Quashen developed and operates the successful Action Family Counseling drug and alcohol treatment centers with 2 adult Rehab Treatment centers, and 3 Intensive Outpatient Treatment centers in Santa Clarita, Simi Valley, & Bakersfield. In January 2018, Action launched an adult Sober Living in SCV, called the Action Sober Living & Extended Care Santa Clarita Ranch. Quashen spent nearly 10 years hosting the KHTS AM 1220 radio show “Families In Action”. The show is no longer active, however all of the shows have been recorded, and the podcasts are available on KHTS's webpage. Quashen is a contributing author to the Steps For Recovery Newspaper and a columnist for the Santa Clarita Signal Newspaper.
Most importantly to us at Action, Quashen is also our acting CEO. He oversees all of the treatment centers, and actively participates in the operation of the company. At the end of the day, Cary is an amazing advocate for those struggling with substance abuse related challenges.
Cary Quashen on The Doctors
In 1989, Quashen founded the Action Family Foundation, a not-for-profit organization which helps troubled teens and their parents. Action Family Counseling has assisted countless families throughout southern California in the years since it's birth. The foundation offers several parent and teen support groups, where parents and their teens spend an interactive hour with our staff and volunteers. The parent and teen support program offers a cost free solution for families who need help dealing with behavioral issues, parenting lessons, drug and alcohol education, and support for those in need. Meetings are held weekly in Santa Clarita, Antelope Valley, Simi Valley, Glendale, Alhambra, and Newbury Park.
Quashen has made many guest appearances as a family and crisis intervention specialist on talk shows such as Good Morning America, The Doctor’s, The Montel Williams Show, Judge Judy, The Ricki Lake Show, and many others. He has also been featured on many local news broadcasts and numerous documentaries. Quashen is commonly featured on radio stations and has spoken at school events and health fairs focusing on related topics such as: gang violence, drug culture, teen pregnancy, adolescent self-esteem issues, and self-help family support groups.
Quashen is currently the Executive Director of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Behavioral Health Unit. Additionally, Quashen is a recognized consultant and leader in the behavioral health care arena, and has consulted with numerous health care programs including Loma Linda Hospital, Anacapa Hospital, Van Nuys Hospital, Ingleside Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, and the Focus Healthcare program in Ohio.
Cary Quashen is Action's Founder and CEO. He will celebrate 38 years of sobriety on Christmas 2018. He has been a recognized expert in the drug and alcohol treatment/ rehabilitation industry for over 3 decades.
