Treatment Programs for Teens & Adults
Action Family Counseling has treatment programs for both adults and adolescents struggling with addiction to drugs and alcohol, and for dual-diagnosis challenges. If you are a concerned parent, grandparent, teacher, counselor, or friend, we can absolutely be of assistance to you and your loved one.
Adolescents face a unique set of challenges. They are caught between the world of the adult and the innocence of childhood. This is a period of time where young adults are individuating from their parents and learning about the larger context and society in which they live. Even though for most families the emphasis is on the adolescent, we maintain that during this crucial period of development that the entire family is thrown into a state of flux and change.
The need for flexibility yet strength, understanding yet boundaries, communication yet rules, can be overwhelming. This is often when problems that were barely visible can grow into glaring and seemingly unsolvable problems. We at the Action drug and alcohol treatment centers can help.
We have over 20 years of experience in working with adolescents and their families and can provide solutions for your family. Whether mental health challenges, substance abuse problems, drug addiction, alcohol addiction, truancy, academic issues, gang involvement, family problems, or all of the above, we have the experience with proven solutions that you are looking for.
A Clinically Focused Treatment Program
We know from experience that in order to successfully treat mental health challenges and addictive disorders, we must understand the context in which the symptoms of these challenges occur. It is not enough to merely eradicate the symptoms of a particular disorder without looking more deeply at the medical, psychological, social, and spiritual basis for the manifestations of the disorders themselves.
In our experience, the outward presentation is merely a reflection and symptom set of something that exists within each individual. In order to successfully employ a solution set that will benefit our clients, we must begin to look at the myriad of internal and external factors upon which any particular disorder or challenge springs from. It is not enough, from our point of view, to focus on symptom eradication, as the foundation for healing is to be found underneath what the symptoms are pointing to.
The basis for long-term, real, and sustainable change lies within the degree to which clients are given the opportunity to explore themselves and their inner worlds. In addition, we must be willing to comprehensively explore the various systems in which they operate and begin to understand their interrelationship with their communities. This infrastructure provides the bedrock upon which the healing with any particular challenges resides.
There are many social stigmas that are attached to mental health challenges and addictive disorders. In the early days of treatment, society viewed these kinds of challenges as moral deficiencies or characterological weaknesses. Addiction to drugs and alcohol was very much so stigmatized. It is with great enthusiasm and the hard work of an educated group of researchers, teachers, physicians, and therapists that we now know conclusively that mental health and addictive disorders are “disease” processes. These challenges are conclusively progressive, life deteriorating, potentially fatal, yet treatable.
We, at the Action drug rehab centers understand experientially and through decades of community involvement that in order to fully understand the disease process, we must delve into the highly personal and context driven origin of the particular disease that has manifested within any individual or family system itself. Only there can we begin to be an agent for change, as this kind of integrated and robust examination serves as the only springboard that we know of for everlasting and meaningful change.
Action’s treatment programs approach involves a multi-dimensional, integrated, and thorough examination of the highly individualized, context driven, medically informed, and systemic nature of the underlying causation of what brings people to us.
Admissions Team With Years of Experience and Knowledge
Every client that enters into any one of our addiction and mental health treatment programs is first screened by telephone by our highly trained intake personnel. Our intake professionals will be able to determine, to large extent, which level of care may be best suited for your particular challenges.
Depending upon this initial screening, our clients will meet with counseling staff and therapists at one of our locations, designated by level of care. There we will provide a thorough multi-dimensional assessment so that we can determine which level of care may be best suited for you.
Various Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs
Action Family Counseling offers Residential Treatment AKA inpatient rehab (RTC), Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP), and Partial day treatment to those struggling with substance abuse disorders, addiction to drugs and alcohol, and mental health challenges. Each level of care is designated and assembled based upon acuity, or severity, of the presenting challenges experienced by our clients. It is in this way that we can individualize and effectively place each client according to their particular needs, so that we can provide highly personalized treatment programs.
Inpatient Drug & Alcohol Rehab Centers
Action Family Counseling’s Residential Treatment Program (RTC) is designed for clients whose severity of mental health challenges or substance use or addiction mandates that they live at one of our facilities for the initial duration of their treatment process. Action's inpatient drug & alcohol addiction and abuse rehab facilities are located in Ventura and Bakersfield in California. This phase of recovery follows detoxification for substance abuse clients which meet criteria, but also has clinical utility for clients suffering from mental health challenges that threaten safety, social and occupational functioning, familial cohesiveness, and the need for medication management.
We also work effectively with clients who are dually-diagnosed and often provide treatment to people who have a complicated and layered challenge set. Often clients come to us for help with a substance abuse problem, such as an addiction to drugs or alcohol, but upon closer evaluation and assessment by our treatment team we find that the substance abuse problem is exacerbated by underlying mental health challenges that need to be treated concurrently.
Residential Treatment (RTC) at the Action drug rehab centers consists of individual, group, and family therapy and counseling throughout the day. The groups are facilitated by highly trained experts in their respective fields. We have ongoing life skills, relapse prevention, coping skills, psycho-educational, group process, cognitive and perceptual restructuring, and familial groups as well as activities and attendance at 12-step and community resource meetings.
All of our Residential Treatment Program clients will work directly with our attending physicians for medication management as deemed appropriate. In addition, counseling sessions, both familial and individual, will be conducted with a focus on helping to resolve the underlying causation of our clients’ challenges.
Intensive Outpatient Drug & Alcohol Treatment Program
The Action drug rehab centers Intensive Outpatient treatment Program (IOP) usually follows Residential Treatment (RTC) for many clients, but can also serve as an entry point in the treatment process for those whose needs are less severe. Action has outpatient treatment centers located in Santa Clarita, Simi Valley, and Bakersfield in California.
The delivery system for this level of care is group attendance 3 times per week as well as ongoing participation in community resource groups, 12-step attendance, individual and family therapy, and/or sober living. This level of care is designed to assist clients in meeting their familial, occupational, and social responsibilities while concurrently attending Intensive Outpatient treatment groups and participating in community resource groups and encounters aligned with their particular challenges.
Each client in an Action outpatient treatment center is assigned a counselor who will assess each client’s unique challenge set and individual path to chart a course of addiction treatment that will provide the opportunity for effective long-lasting change.
